Thank you Alaska! With your help we raised $92,930 to continue the life saving work at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on January 31st and February 1st!

Calls to become a Partner In Hope, supporting St. Jude with a $20 a month pledge, started pouring in on Thursday morning. KBEAR listeners responded to the message of Hope that is shared by the Hospital in story songs and first hand accounts of visiting the hospital by the KBEAR staff.

Everyone one on the KBEAR staff has had an opportunity to visit the Hospital in Memphis, TN on several different occasions over the past 23 years the station has been involved in the Country Cares Radiothon. This was a milestone year for KBEAR as we crossed the 2 million dollar mark raised for St. Jude since 1996!

Many great volunteers helped answer calls from St, Jude supporters during the Radiothon. Big shout out to the men and women of the Alaska Army and Air National Guard. Also, members of UAA’s Phi-Alpha Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon who gave their time to man the phone banks at the radio station.

Clif from Alaska Textiles also gave away a trip to Memphis, including airfare and accommodations and tour of the Hospital for one of our Partners In Hope. Congratulations goes out to Katherine H. of Anchorage who was selected in the random drawing at the conclusion of the Radiothon.

The Slippery Salmon Bar and Grill, Gallo’s Mexican Restaurant and Cantina and Top Bop keep all of our volunteers fed during the two day Radiothon!
