2002 Memories on the Back 20:

Crank Yankers premiered on Comedy Central, a show with Muppet(ish) puppets acting out actual crank calls made by various comedians.

One of Time Magazines pics for best inventions of 2002 was the Toothphone, an actual receiver in a molar that would send vibrations of the call up through the skull to the ear so only the person with the tooth could hear it.  Unfortunately, the person couldn’t talk back so… no “Molar-ola.”
