JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) – The American Civil Liberties Union is running ads in Alaska and Maine, focused on those states’ moderate U.S. senators ahead of President Trump’s nomination of a new Supreme Court justice.

The ads, directed at Republicans Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins, reference their past support for Planned Parenthood.

The ads say Americans must know where Trump’s nominee will stand on Roe vs. Wade, which established a woman’s right to abortion.

ACLU National Political Director Faiz Shakir says the ads are meant as a “gentle plea” for Murkowski and Collins to follow their records and stand against any undermining of Roe vs. Wade.

It’s not the only pressure being placed on Murkowski: the left-leaning grassroots organization Indivisible Anchorage plans a protest outside her Anchorage office Monday ahead of Trump’s expected announcement.
