ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – Anchorage police say they have arrested a 24-year-old man suspected of shooting two people on a city street.

Rusty Tuuaga is being held on suspicion of attempted murder, felony assault, evidence tampering and reckless endangerment.

Online court documents do not list his attorney. He’s jailed in Anchorage.

Police at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday received a call of a shooting in the 600 block of east Fifth Avenue near Gambell Street.

A man with a life-threatening gunshot wound and a woman with non-life-threatening injuries were lying on the pavement. Both were taken to a hospital.

Police set up a perimeter and detained Tuuaga for questioning.

Police say he and the shooting victims are acquaintances and the shooting may have been related to drugs.
