Did you think Balto was the real canine hero of the Great Race of Mercy? Time to meet Togo, the uncommonly brave (and quite cute) sled dog that really saved the day.  Togo (October 17, 1913 – December 5, 1929) was the lead sled dog of Leonhard Seppala and his dog sled team in the 1925 serum run to Nome across central and northern Alaska.

“He’s more trouble than he’s worth!,” one would-be owner yells, but once Leonhard discovers that Togo’s energy really is best served on the sled, that’s no longer the case.

“Togo” will be available to stream on Disney+ starting December 20
