Wildlife officials kill aggressive bear, 3 cubs in Anchorage

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – Wildlife officials have killed four black bears in Alaska’s largest city after they were becoming more aggressive toward campers.

The Anchorage Daily News reports a sow and three cubs were killed Wednesday at Centennial Campground in east Anchorage after one was ripping through a tent with a person inside.

Alaska Fish and Game spokesman Ken Marsh says the bears have caused issues for weeks. Attempts to scare off the bears by shooting bean bag rounds at them didn’t work.

Marsh says there have been no reports of people being injured by the bears.

He says the department couldn’t find any licensed wildlife facility in Alaska or in other states that had room for the cubs.
